Dance In The Rain : The Healing Power Of Positive Thinking
I sat inside, looking out the window. I could see dark gray clouds taking over the sky and inching closer. I dreamed of days I would go outside and play in the inevitable rain that was getting closer to sprinkling the yard with it’s cold tiny droplets.
Mindset Matters
For me, it was one of those days, shortly after a hospital stent, that kept my body longing for the rest it needed to recover. I sat, propped up on pillows, with my head at window height, watching the mysterious clouds form into beautiful shapes. The obstacles that are brought on from chronic illness make it easy to sit in self pity. But there’s always something inside of me that screams like a warning siren to run for cover from a possible tornado. This siren tells me to run and BE present in life, fight, dig deep and keep my head up….. may it even be just propped on a pillow.
Healing Power In the Gifts Around You
I stretched my arm out, leaning as far as I could go without falling off the bed, to crack open the window longing for the fresh smell of the springtime rain. The simple, small crack allowed the dewy breeze to touch my face renewing my spirit. I breathed in slowly, as if I was breathing in a tiny, natural piece of God’s gift that enveloped my body with the energy needed. I gazed softly at the flat, still water of our pool, watching the performance of the droplets, dancing eloquently upon the surface.
The droplets began to work together covering the pool, the green grass, the bright pink colored flowers of the Magnolia tree all within sight from that tiny window.
My mind swirled with thoughts, just like the swirling storm that had covered our yard. What a beautiful gift rain is, given out freely to those who open their minds!
The pool needed more water due to my children frolicking within its borders, splashing and throwing the water over the sides while voicing giggles and permanent smiles (a true gift in itself). I looked at the magnolia tree, the tree that we planted in memory of my mother-in-law after her passing. The delicate, soft flowers soaked up the rain blowing gently in the breeze as if they were smiling for the nourishment that was being provided from the heavens above.
How wonderful rain is! So many people look at a storm or spring time shower as a negative thing. It may stop them from the golf game that they had planned, the pool party with friends, an afternoon walk at the park, a barbecue or a birthday party. But today, today I saw rain as rejuvenation. I saw how it fed everything it touched, delicately providing the love, strength and power it needs to grow and endure. Mindset Matters! The power of positive thinking provides healing power!
Are Puddles Really That Bad?
I watched the puddles form on the deck of the pool, soaking in what an amazing offering it is. At first we start out as a droplet and with God’s grace and his Holy Spirit, we are fed more droplets every day. With each droplet that puddle grows. Sometimes the rain may bring in dark clouds, but those dark clouds provide growth to the puddle before us.
Choose To Find The Power Of Positive Thinking
You see, those puddles, they’re not a sentence of doom or gloom. Those clouds, they are simply an obstacle, struggle temporarily laid before us to help us grow. We may not always see it immediately or when we need to. As the puddle grows, with each cloud that covers a season of our life, a time in our day, the droplets gather to create a masterpiece of a puddle to dance in. So, even on your worst days, your darkest moments, a small challenge or a huge obstacle, pull up your rain boots and go dance in the rain like no one’s watching! Enjoy the splash! Watch the droplets fly from your feet moving towards your next adventure ~ no matter how big or small that may be.
